Privacy Policy

The North Sydney Junior Baseball Association (Bears), has collected your personal information and, in accordance with its Privacy Policy, will hold it in it's secure database.

 

We consider that holding your personal information is important and we take your right to privacy very seriously.  To this end, we have issued this Privacy Statement to explain why we collect your personal information and how we may use or disclose it.

 

We collect personal information such as your name, address, age, sex, telephone contact, and membership status.  The full details of the personal information we collect can be found in the questions we ask and/or in the forms you have completed in relation to your membership of the North Sydney Junior Baseball Association (Bears). In some situations we may have collected your personal information from a third party such as the competition associations the club plays in or relevant state association. We collect only the information about you that we need in order to provide you with services within the sport of baseball and to meet our obligations to any relevant government bodies. If you do not provide the personal information we seek, we might not be able to provide you with services relating to participation in the sport of baseball.

All of the personal information we hold about you is held on a password protected database or in secure files.  Only authorised officers of the North Sydney Junior Baseball Association (Bears) may access the data base and only for one of the purposes above. Once we no longer have a need for your personal information we will destroy or de-identify it.

We may also use your personal information for research and to assist us to obtain better information about participants in the sport of baseball.

From time to time, we may disclose your information to certain third parties. If we do this we require these parties to protect your personal information in the same way we do.  The types of the organisations we may disclose your personal information to include:

• external sports industry bodies including but not limited to Baseball NSW, Baseball Australia and the Australian Sports Commission.

• companies with which we are associated in relation to the marketing or operation of baseball 

• government agencies (as part of our regulatory or statutory obligations)

if we collect your information from someone else or another entity, then we may disclose your personal information to that person or entity and your agent.

The club may take photographs of players and spectators during training or games.  These become the property of North Sydney Junior Baseball.  We do not ask for permission from each parent / guardian to take these photos or to utilise them in club promotional material, including our website or Facebook page.  It is too difficult to administer the identification and exclusion of individual children from team photos and action photos.

 

However, when using a photo of a child, we will not name or identify the child or publish personal information, such as residential address, email address or telephone number, without the consent of the parent/guardian. We will not provide information about a child’s hobbies, interests, school or the like, as this can be used by paedophiles or other persons to “groom” a child.

 

We will only use images of children that are relevant to our sport and we will ensure that they are suitably clothed in a manner that promotes participation in the sport.

If you agree to have your personal information included in our data base we will take it that you consent to us collecting, using, disclosing and handling your personal information as set out in this Privacy Statement.

You can request access to the personal information we hold about you and you may ask us at any time to correct it where you believe it is incorrect or out of date. We will delete your personal information from our database if you make such a request in writing.

There will be no fee for accessing your personal information.
